The Twelve Gifts of Christmas Series -Gifts of Joy
Sermon for Sunday December 18, 2011 at New Life Christian Church, Hudson NH, Pastor Ken Heath.
Discussion Guide: The Gifts of Joy (Ephesians 1:13-14)
When you place your faith in Jesus, trusting that His finished work on the cross is sufficient payment for your sin, He promises to enter your life and transform it-for now and forever. Today's sermon addressed three specific gifts (consequences) that were made possible by Christ coming to you as Savior.
1. You are saved (1:13a). What does it mean to you that your sins will never be held against you and you are totally forgiven and reconciled with God? "Unpack" the meaning of this for your life. • Isaiah 25:9 • Psalm 95:1-2 • Luke 19:1-9 • Ephesians 2:8-10 • 1 Peter 1:8-9 • Titus 3:4-7
2. You are sealed (1:13b). What does it mean to you that your salvation is sealed, kept, and protected by the Holy Spirit? How does this affect your spiritual confidence as a believer? • John 3:16-18 • John 10:28-29 • 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 • Colossians 3:3-4 • 1 Peter 1:5 • Jude 24-25
3. You are set for eternity (1:14). What does it mean to you that you have an inheritance (God's home, gifts, rewards) waiting for you in heaven? How does this truth affect your life today? • John 14:1-3 • Colossians 3:23-24 • 1 Corinthians 15:50-57 • 1 Peter 1:3-4 • 2 Timothy 4:8 • Revelation 22:12
